Information Sent Directly
A name, phone number, or address entered in a search form is sent to the third-party provider that supplies the result. Our own servers do not keep a copy of those search terms. A message sent to the contact address contains the information you choose to include, which is used to answer the request.
Routine Technical Logs
Hosting systems may record an IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and timestamps. Those details are reviewed in aggregate for site health and readership patterns. Cookies or similar tools may be used for basic analytics or, where applicable, advertising measurement.
How Information Is Used
Technical data supports operation, troubleshooting, traffic counts, and page improvements. Visitor lists are not sold, and individual user profiles are not built from this information.
Links Beyond This Domain
Pages point to county and state portals, library collections, archives, and sponsored search tools. Once a link is followed, the destination's privacy policy controls what it receives. The third-party provider behind sponsored results has its own data practices and terms.
Possible Recipients
Hosting and support vendors may process ordinary server logs. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic information described above. Disclosure occurs when valid legal process requires it, or when a service provider must process data to operate the reference.
Security and Retention
The connection is encrypted, and logs are retained only for as long as the purposes above call for them. Because there are no accounts, this service does not hold a visitor password or user profile.
Visitors Under 18
The reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. Personal information from someone under 18 is not knowingly collected; contact us if a minor has submitted information so it can be removed.
Your California Privacy Choices
California's Consumer Privacy Act and Consumer Privacy Rights Act, Civil Code ยง1798.100 et seq., can provide access, correction, deletion, and opt-out rights when the law covers a business. Because this service stores little, a request usually means checking the contact mailbox and applicable server logs. Use the Contact page to ask. Government records held by California, San Mateo County, or South San Francisco custodians are outside this service's control, so requests about those records belong with the agency that keeps them.
Policy Changes
When this policy changes, the revised text will be posted here. Continued use after an update indicates acceptance of the new wording.
